WHAT IS A SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT?
A Settlement Agreement is a legally binding agreement between your employer and you. Your Employer pays you a sum of money for you to waive all legal rights to take legal action against them. An Employer usually offers a Settlement Agreement to you if they have decided to terminate your employment on the grounds of redundancy however they can also be offered on any other ground for dismissal.
You should get legal advice for a settlement agreement to ensure that you are paid everything that you are owed (for example, remaining holiday entitlement etc.)
